E' morto Geoff Emerick, con lui se ne va un pezzo di storia dei Beatles.

Geoff Emerick scriveva così del suo primo incontro con i Beatles e con Paul nel suo libro "Here there and everywhere" : 

"Poi incontrai il bassista. Non era solo il più convenzionalmente bello dei quattro, ma anche il più amichevole e coinvolgente. Era chiaramente il più interessato a come procedeva la registrazione.
Sebbene non alzasse la voce, come l'altro componente, ho avuto l'impressione che egli fosse il leader del gruppo. Quando parlava, gli altri ascoltavano attentamente e facevano un cenno d'intesa con la testa e prima di ogni registrazione era lui che li esortava a dare il massimo.Ripensandoci adesso, è divertente come la maggior parte della gente pensasse fosse John il leader dei Beatles. Avrebbe potuto essere la sua band in principio e lui avrebbe potuto assumere il ruolo di leadership nelle loro conferenze stampa e apparizioni pubbliche, ma durante tutti gli anni che io ho lavorato con loro mi è sembrato che Paul, il bassista dalla voce dolce, fosse il vero leader del gruppo e che nulla si facesse se non veniva approvato da lui."

Una bella amicizia quella con Macca. Dalla sua pagina ha voluto rendere omaggio all'amico scomparso: "Woke up this morning to the sad news of Geoff Emerick's passing. He was a great engineer and friend, and even though The Beatles had many great engineers over the years Geoff was the ONE. He was smart, fun-loving and the genius behind many of the great sounds on our records. I worked with him after The Beatles and it was always fun and the sounds he managed to conjure up were always special. Having seen him earlier this year when he came round to our studio I'm shocked and saddened to have lost such a special friend. God bless you Geoffrey - love Paul. x"

Con lui se ne va davvero un altro pezzetto di Beatles.
